Day 1: AHMEDABAD - SAYLA
Reach Ahmedabad and get greeted by the tour representative of the wildlife and heritage of Gujarat tour. Travel to Sayla on reaching. In the afternoon take a visit to Latura to see the Asiatic Wild Ass.
Located on the banks of Sabarmati River, Ahemdabad was once the capital of Gujarat and is the largest city in the state of Gujarat. Also known as Karnavati, Ahemdabad is also an important commercial center of India and is visited by large number of both leisure and business tourists.
Overnight stay.
Day 2: SAYLA- GIR
Drive to Gir the next day and enroute visit Junagadh to see the imposing Uparkot Fort, Buddhist cave-sites, 3rd century BC Ashoka rock edicts, the palace museum filled with Nawabi treasures, the flamboyant royal mausoleum complexes etc.
Arrive at Gir Birding Lodge in the afternoon. Take lunch and depart for a safari in the Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary.
Part of the Indian state of Gujarat, Sayla was once a princely state ruled by the Jhala Rajputs. Known for its palaces and monuments, Sayla was founded in 1751 by Seshmalj who captured Sayla from the Kathi Darbars and made it the capital of his state.
Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 and 4: GIR NATIONAL PARK AND WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Morning and evening go on a drive in the Gir forests to look for the two big cats and other wildlife. In between the drives, visit Somnath to see the famous shore temple, which is considered one of the 12 holy abodes of Shiva. Also visit the Sun Temple, Ahilya Temple and other monuments.
Gir in Gujarat is a deciduous forest and is the last abode of the Asiatic lion. Besides, the forest also has a thriving panther (leopard) population. It also has home to large population of chital or spotted deer, sambar, blue bull antelope, chinkara gazelle, chousingha (the world's only four-horned antelope), wild boar and other wildlife. Besides, you will also see a large number of avian population on the game-drive trail. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 5: Ahmedabad/Rajkot Drive back to Ahmedabad/Rajkot for a return flight on last day of the Wildlife and Heritage of Gujarat tour. |
